Knight Riders have been knocked out. But, other teams have hope of reaching the semis. That feeling is shared by their fans who are hooked to the hit-and-win form of entertainment that has changed the way in which cricket is being played...and watched. With much of this cricketainment being shown during the time of K serials, courtroom dramas and a number of other entertainment zones, IPL is surely causing wars and disputes at home!Avinash Siddhu, a complete cricket buff, braces himself to get control of the remote.
Laments he, At my house, I am the only one who loves cricket, while my sister loves her super-sensitive dramas. We constantly bicker about who should get the remote, and since shes a kid my mother takes her side, says he.
Some of the sidelights are immensely humorous. A few days ago, I was out for dinner with a friend when I saw a guy watching the match between Team Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians with such keen interest, that the girl who was with him made him sit with his back to the screen! But, little did she know that he could watch the match reflected on the glass behind her! laughs Karan Jadhav. But others have decided that if you cant beat them, join them. Reetika Kapoor, who was fed up trying to wean her husband away from the game, actually made an effort to watch the matches. Now, she is a diehard fan. Avish and I kept having petty fights over these matches. Wherever we would go, it was as good as having a drink alone or eat alone! So, I decided to check it out myself and see whats the fuss all about. And now, I actually follow it up and even have a favourite team! smiles she. Thoughtful indeed. But, if you thought women were the bane of mens existence when it came to cricket, think again. Pramod Joshi and his better half almost have a tug of war for the remote. Reason? He wants to watch National Geographic and, she the IPL. Its so funny and my entire family has a good laugh when they see Seema and I fight for watching our favourite channels. But, what to do? Women always have their way, says the hubby. With the semi-finals fast approaching, the excitement promises to grow. And, the disputes? We are not answering that one!
